Nebraska may soon land its Dylan Raiola backup plan with Daniel Kaelin decommiting from Missouri on Friday.

With 2024 five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola committing to Georgia over his father Dominic's alma mater of Nebraska, the Cornhuskers may have some help on the way in the form of three-star signal-caller Daniel Kaelin.

This may not seem like much, but Kaelin decommitting from Missouri is probably indicative of the Bellevue, Nebraska native staying in-state. 247Sports lead recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong predicted on Friday that Kaelin will flip to the Cornhuskers. This comes around the same time that Kaelin announced he will be decommitting from playing for Eliah Drinkwitz's Missouri Tigers team.

Here is the tweet Kaelin sent out on Friday afternoon announcing that his recruitment will be opening back up once again.

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound quarterback has 15 official offers including Colorado, Duke, Florida State, Kansas State, Michigan State and North Carolina, in addition to ones at Missouri and Nebraska.

Nebraska could land Dylan Raiola replacement with Daniel Kaelin's commitment

Even though it has been a painfully long time since the peak Bo Pelini days in Lincoln, I do expect for Matt Rhule to get the Nebraska program back to respectability. He was able to turn the Temple Owls into a winner before bringing the Baylor Bears seemingly back from the dead. While the Carolina Panthers experiment went badly, Rhule seems to be a college coach through and through.

What I like about the idea of Kaelin potentially committing to Nebraska is one of the best players in-state stays home. Although Nebraska is not dripping with high school talent inside its border, having home-grown products develop further in Lincoln not only will appeal to this rabid fanbase, but will also tap into the blue-collar rebuilding ethos of Rhule. Simply put, this feels very natural.

Overall, it is nice to kind of feel like Nebraska has a remote clue what it is doing now. We liked the idea of Scott Frost more than the real thing, and that went to hell in a hand basket faster than you can say Go Big Red! I don't know if Kaelin is the panacea under center for what ails the Huskers, but potentially getting a former SEC commit to flip over to you and stay home certainly lands well.

Let's keep an eye on Kaelin and this recruiting situation as it develops to see if he does indeed flip.
