Lucy who played Matty Mulligan's love interest in the show had to make a tough choice between him and Jeremy

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Netflix’s new animated series ‘Mulligan’ offers a look into a world destroyed by alien forces from planet Cardi-B. The show kicks off with spaceships raining fire on continents across the world and destroying humanity. But our protagonist, Matty Mulligan, saves Washington DC with her love interest Lucy when he throws a grenade into the mothership, killing all the invaders. Matty then uses the pin from the grenade as a ring to confess his love for Lucy and marries her. He’s also made the President of the United States of America by a surviving Senator, Cartwright LaMarr, who anoints himself as the Vice President.

Matty appoints his cabinet which includes former DARPA scientist Dr Farrah Braun, Simon Prioleau, a historian, General Scarpaccio as a military general, and a royal Englishman, Jeremy, because of his genius accent. Matty also keeps a prisoner of war, an alien named Axatrax who signals his planet at one point during the show. The idea is to rule but Matty is distracted by the unusual and idiotic problems that keep popping up. Each character adds to his misery and Matty fails to govern accurately. In the end, the cabinet decides to hold an election to show the surviving people that it’s not Matty’s dictatorship but a democracy where every voice is heard. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work out as the cabinet had planned.

Who did Lucy choose?

The elections which were supposed to be conducted in all fairness slowly turn into a competition and the prize is Lucy. The election slowly turns into an episode of ‘Bachelorette’ where Matty and Jeremy fight for Lucy’s attention and love. Even though it could have gone anyone’s way, Lucy decides that she will not submit herself to anyone. She cites that all her life she’s done what was expected of her but now, she will choose herself. But Jeremy and Matty do not take her rejection at face value. Instead, Matty reminds her that since she knows everyone on the planet, who could be a better suitor for her than a President and a royal king?

Even though Lucy has slowly developed an intense liking for Jeremy, it was Matty and Lucy who started their love affair at the beginning of the show. But Lucy has made up her mind and before she could reconsider, a ship arrives out of nowhere.

Who was on the ship?

A cruise ship appears at this point disturbing Matty and Jeremy’s argument with Lucy about her selfish choice. Everyone was taken aback, witnessing a bunch of new humans at the shores of Washington DC. However, people on the ship recognize LeMarr and address him as their senator. He’s elated to see someone who recognizes him but conducting elections will be a challenge. Matty is a hero who saved humanity but how will he fare if elections are conducted? Will he become the President again? I guess, the second season might just be in the works.
