During an appearance on Sirius XM NFL Radio, free agent running back Dalvin Cook revealed the team that presents itself as the ideal fit for him.

Entering the 2023 league year, there were rumblings out of the Minnesota Vikings facility that the team was prepared to move on from running back Dalvin Cook. Sure enough, after being unable to find a trade partner, Cook was released by the Vikings, officially becoming a free agent for the first time in his career. It is a rough market right now for running backs, as Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs have yet to sign their franchise tags in search of long-term contracts. Cook would provide a boost on whichever team he is on, but where would he like to play?

During an appearance on Sirius XM NFL Radio, Cook was asked by host Amber Theoharis if he would be excited about joining the Miami Dolphins. Cook said that the Dolphins would be "the perfect fit" for him.

"Yeah, it's an exciting situation to go into when you got guys that can stretch the field on the outside. I think that defense is pretty solid to me. Tua [Tagovailoa], when he's out on the field, they got a winning record," said Cook, h/t the Miami Herald.

"… As a running back you look for a certain scheme and I know the scheme that I'm good in, and that's outside zone, and that's what the Miami Dolphins run. So it's like, you know, it'd be a perfect fit. And the roster, like you said, speaks for itself."

NFL rumors: Dalvin Cook calls Dolphins 'the perfect fit' for him

When Cook became a free agent, all eyes were set on the Dolphins. After all, he is a Miami native and attended Miami Central High School. Plus, adding Cook would help the Dolphins compete in what has become a tough AFC East division.

Head coach Mike McDaniel wouldn't respond to questions from the media regarding the team potentially adding Cook, saying that he wasn't born yesterday. He did praise his current running back group consisting of Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr., De'Von Achane, Salvon Ahmed, and Myles Gaskin.

Cook played the entire season for the Vikings this past year, running for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns on 264 carries, while catching 39-of-56 targets for 295 yards and two touchdowns.

With NFL training camp over a month away, fans will wait to see which team Cook will choose to sign with. Could it be the Dolphins? Cook sounds open to signing with them.
