Paige Spiranac spoke about Tiger Woods and why scratch golfers should not be allowed to tour

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA: In a recent social media post, Paige Spiranac discussed why Scratch golfers should not be allowed on tour. The golf influencer used Tiger Woods as an example to demonstrate her point. Paige is a famous TikToker renowned for her golf videos.

A scratch golfer is someone who can play golf with no handicap on certain courses. Scratch golfers have a handicap index, but when that index is entered into the course handicap formula, the outcome is frequently zero. As a result, their handicap card begins at zero (scratch).

'People think a scratch golfer is good'

A Twitter user tweeted a post that stated, "Back in 2008, Tiger's official handicap index would have been +9.4. If adjusted for tour conditions, somewhere between +11 and +12."

Spiranac took to Twitter to post a photo of the tweet with the caption, "Most people think a scratch golfer is good enough to play on tour lol they would have to give a scratch player at least 4 per side."

She continued to add in the comments section, "You’d be surprised. Most people don’t even know what a plus handicap means."

'Zero people think a scratch golfer is good'

Fans also voiced their thoughts in the comments section. One wrote, "Absolutely zero people think a scratch golfer is good enough to play on tour. There are certainly people that think +3s are good enough to play on tour, which is also wildly inaccurate. But ya literally no one thinks a scratch can play on tour lol."

Another user added, "Scratch is such a corny golf phrase that true golfers don't use.. at least in my circle."

A user commented saying, "A scratch golfer's scoring average is nearly 76. They would get killed by LPGA players - KILLED. I hear so many men say LPGA players are the same as male scratch golfers. NO EFFING WAY!!!!"
