PGMOL will release VAR audio from Anthony Gordon's controversial winner for Newcastle against Arsenal on 'Match Officials: Mic'd Up'.

Refereeing body PGMOL will release the audio of officials deliberating Anthony Gordon's controversial winner for Newcastle in their Premier League clash with Arsenal earlier in November.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta unleashed a furious rant after his side were downed 1-0 by the Magpies at St James' Park, labelling the decision to allow Gordon's strike to stand "embarrassing" and a "disgrace".

The goal went through three steps of checks by the video assistant referee as they adjudicated on whether the ball had gone out of play, if Gabriel Magalhaes had been fouled by Joelinton and if an offside had taken place.

While Arsenal doubled down in their support of Arteta after the game, claiming "PGMOL urgently needs to address the standard of officiating", the Premier League's Key Match Incidents Panel ruled referee Stuart Attwell and VAR Andy Madley got the decision right.

The Daily Mail have now revealed PGMOL has warned Arsenal that dialogue from their sole league defeat so far this season will be released on Tuesday during 'Match Officials: Mic'd Up', the monthly TV show hosted by chief operating officer Howard Webb and former England striker Michael Owen.

The Football Association wrote to both Arteta and Arsenal during the fallout as they sought explanations for the comments.

'Match Officials: Mic'd Up' has been used to explain glaring decisions so far throughout the 2023/24 season, with audio being released of Darren England's infamous meltdown when ruling on Luis Diaz's strike at Tottenham back in October.

The Reds had a perfectly legitimate goal chalked off due to a breakdown in communication from the team of officials at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before their nine-player side fell to a late 2-1 defeat.
