Real Madrid striker Joselu sums up Jude Bellingham's impact at the club with one word, saying the 20-year-old has been a 'diamond' in the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid striker Joselu has praised the impact of "diamond" Jude Bellingham following his summer move from Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham has enjoyed a record-breaking start to his Madrid career, bagging ten goals in his first ten appearances for the club - a feat only ever previously achieved by legendary forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Aged just 20, Bellingham is already widely regarded as one of the world's best players, such has been his impact in the Spanish capital and his prior performances in Germany.

Speaking about the club's new star man, fellow new signing Joselu, who has five goals and two assists to his name after nine outings, remarked to Marca that Bellingham has been a "diamond" since he arrived, before elaborating on his unconventional route to becoming a Real Madrid player.

"I have had a career with many good moments and also bad ones. But I wouldn't change a single step I've taken for anything in the world," he said. "I have enjoyed everything and it has helped me be the footballer and person that I am. Of course there are times when you can choose other paths because things weren't going well, but those decisions I made are what have led me to be here.

"Every place helped me learn, not only outside of Spain. In Celta I experienced a bankruptcy law. I went from not charging to Castilla, where everything was wonderful. Then I went abroad, learning the experience of living in another country, playing in Europe, getting to know the Premier League...all of them helped me grow and be who I am."

Joselu spent time at Madrid back in the early 2010s before embarking on unsuccessful spells at Stoke City and Newcastle United. He then headed back to Spain to find form, making a far greater impact at La Liga sides Alaves and Espanyol.

Indeed, the 33-year-old's spell at the latter, which yielded 16 La Liga goals during 2022/23, led Real Madrid to come calling after Karim Benzema decided to end his career with the club in order to join Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad.

Joselu's form has been so impressive that he now has six international caps and four goals to his name - he's part of the group of players called up for Spain's Euro 2024 qualifiers against Scotland and Norway this October international break.
