Riot Games had a surprise announcement at the Summer Game Fest during the Xbox Showcase. While fans were clamoring for a Fable update of some kind, instead fans got a surprise in the form of a Riot Games partnership.
As shown below fans will be able to play League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Legends of Runterra, TFT, and Valorant. But before you lose your mind as I did, the games are not available on console. At least for now. This definitely is a step in the right direction. But the games are available on PC Game Pass and mobile for TFT, Wild Rift, and Runterra.
You may be asking why you would ever play and download the game on Game Pass when it's already free to play on Riot Games. The answer is free content. Players will have access to EVERY champion in League of Legends or every Agent in Valorant. That's quite the incentive, especially for newer players who don't have as much unlocked.
This was a rather surprising Xbox Showcase, as Blizzard seemed to have some of the biggest news from the day with an Overwatch 2 free-to-play announcement and an early access date. And with the Riot Games news, Xbox really needs to step up its exclusive news to compete with competitors.
