Robert Lewandowski explains why he is frustrated at Barcelona at the start of the season.

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has hinted at frustration over the team's tactics in the early weeks of this season, suggesting he lacks support without enough forwards on the pitch.

The reigning La Liga champions have taken seven points from a possible nine at the start of the new campaign, putting together back to back wins over Cadiz and Villarreal since being held to a surprising 0-0 draw by Getafe in their opening fixture.

Lewandowski has only found the net once and it wasn't until the closing stages of the Villarreal game that Barca were able to get ahead after initially letting a 2-0 slip into a 3-2 deficit.

By this stage last season, Xavi's team had the same number of points from their first three games, but Lewandowski was already on four goals after netting consecutive braces.

"We are Barca and we are expected not only to win, but also to play good attacking football. Lately that has not been as it should be, so we have been fighting to create more chances in matches," the veteran Pole said, via Mundo Deportivo.

The 35-year-old, who celebrated his birthday last week, seemed to suggest that Barca haven't been playing with enough forwards from the start of games.

"When we see Ferran [Torres] or Ansu [Fati] come on, two players who go forward, we create more chances," he said. "Sometimes we don't play with enough attacking players, I don't have support.

"I realise that sometimes, if I'm between two central defenders, it's easier for the defenders. In many games I don't have many chances to score. In the last two games, I didn't have many chances, I didn't receive many balls, so sometimes I had to create my [own] chances."

90min has reported that Barcelona remain open to offers for Fati, a stance that hasn't changed since the end of last season following a disappointing year on the fringes. But Torres is enjoying a resurgence after insisting that he wanted to fight for his place in the team.
