LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Shannen Doherty who is battling stage 4 breast cancer shared a video capturing moments before her brain surgery to remove a tumor. The actress took to Instagram to show her followers "what cancer looks like."

"January 16, 2023. Surgery. I had a tumor in my head they wanted to remove and also biopsy. I am clearly trying to be brave but I am petrified,” the former 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star captioned the video.

'Worried about leaving my mom'

Sharing the throwback clip, the 52-year-old said, "The fear was overwhelming to me," and added, "Scared of all possible bad outcomes, worried about leaving my mom and how that would impact her. Worried that I would come out of surgery not me anymore. This is what cancer can look like." Under the post, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar wrote, "You are a warrior."

'There was a lot going on in my life'

Doherty posted the video days after she gave an update on Instagram on her current condition and revealed to her fans that cancer has now spread to her brain. "January 12, the first round of radiation took place. My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic, and there was a lot going on in my life," the 'Charmed' alum wrote on June 7.

Doherty said her CT scan showed Metastases in her brain which, according to the Mayo Clinic, is a condition where cancer spells spread from their site of origin to the brain. "I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at Cedar Sinai. But that fear…. The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like," she added.

'Fighting to stay alive'

In March 2015, the television star was diagnosed with breast cancer, according to Page Six. She announced her stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis again in February 2020, four months before the death of Doherty's co-star Luke Perry. "It’s so weird for me to be diagnosed and then somebody who was, you know, seemingly healthy to go first," she said at the time.

During Doherty's appearance on 'Good Morning America' in 2021, the actress told her fans she was "fighting to stay alive." "I never want to operate [like I’m dying]. I just want to operate as I don’t have things to check off because I’m going to keep fighting to stay alive," Doherty added.
