LAFC manager Steve Cherundolo gave praise to Inter Miami after losing to the visitors at home.

LAFC boss Steve Cherundolo credited Inter Miami's clinical finishing in the final third after his team's 3-1 loss to 2023 Leagues Cup champions.

As we've seen in most of Miami's games with Lionel Messi in the side, the Herons are more than capable of creating plenty of big chances throughout games, but their high defensive line leaves them exposed at the back - something teams haven't been able to capitalize on so far.

However, Cherundolo acknowledged the chances his team created but was disappointed that they didn't put any of them away to test Miami.

"The game shaped up exactly as we expected," Cherundolo said after the game. "We created a plethora of chances and just weren't effective tonight, and that was the difference in the game.

"I think all of our subjective opinions are enough to figure out what happened tonight. It was just being effective. It's something that Miami did and we didn't."

Although Miami have assembled a formidable squad that boasts the best player in the world, Cherundolo believes they can be beaten.

"Certainly they're not unbeatable. I think we saw that tonight and other nights as well. But I think it's very clear that they're extremely effective in the offensive end," the 44-year-old said.

"What that means for opponents is that you have to be the same, because the few chances they do get, they obviously succeed in those. And if you're going to play them and beat them, you have to finish yours."

The Black and Gold, still in third place in the West with 40 points, will now prepare for their September 9 clash with Western Conference foes Portland Timbers at Providence Park.
