Bill Maher had earlier drawn a comparison between the liberal left and the KKK saying both hyper-fixate on race

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The Five' host Jessica Tarlov spoke up on popular comedian and liberal political commentator Bill Maher's recent conversation with Joe Rogan on his podcast 'The Joe Rogan Experience'.

As the designated Democrat on the panel of the Fox show, she was asked to address Maher's bizarre comparison of the cult Ku Klux Klan or KKK to "liberals" who hyper-fixate on race as a social issue.

Jessica Tarlov agrees with Bill Maher's attack on 'wokeness'

Maher drew a comparison between the liberal left and the KKK during the podcast.

"They think that race is first and foremost the thing you should always see everywhere," Maher said. "Which I find interesting because that used to be the position of the Ku Klux Klan."

When asked to comment on Maher's opinion, Tarlov said that she agreed with his views, at least to some extent.

"There's obviously the far left side of the party," Tarlov said. "And then there's the bulk of the party which falls in this establishment camp which is your run-of-the-mill Democrat."

'The Five' host clarified Maher's stance on Democrats, liberal views, and the history of left-wing thought saying, "He's going even further back and talking about old school, blue dog Democrats. So, what was going on in the 90s during the Clinton era and everyone has generally updated their social positions, for instance on things like gay marriage, becoming more pro-choice etc."

Despite this, Tarlov had reservations about Maher's recent takes on the podcast.

Jessica Tarlov says Bill Maher's comments are not a big deal

"He's very disconnected from where the Democratic party is today," Tarlov continued.

She mentioned that he does support the primary values and concerns of the blues and "would never vote for the conservatives." "He says regularly that Donald Trump shouldn't even be allowed to run for office because of what happened on January sixth," Tarlov added.

The host went on to say that Maher's political position was not seriously affected by his recent views.

"It's not the own that people think it is," Tarlov said. "When Bill Maher comes out and says anything negative about liberals, he's not turning into some sort of conservative person."
