HBO's show 'The Idol's storyline labeled 'depressing' and the characters were called out to be 'replusive'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The fifth and final episode of 'The Idol' Season 1 debuted on HBO. It left the viewers in shock. Where many expected that there will be some power toss between Jocelyn and Tedros, the opposite seems to have happened. Jocelyn was seen taking control of her relationship with Tedros.

There was a sudden change in Jocelyn's attitude at the season's end. She was seen calling out Tedros being a "f**king conman and a fraud," asking him to walk out of her life. Well, this was not it. Jocelyn, who was eager to grow her career, was seen realizing that she make the best use of the moment. Indeed, she used Tedros' people for her opening act in front of the team. As we explore Jocelyn's evolution in the show, let's take a look at the ending.

'The Idol' Season 1 Episode 5: Ending explained

Jocelyn was seen being done with Tedros' drama in her life. Continuously asking Tedros to walk out of her life, Jocelyn slammed him for being a "sweaty, drunken, f**king, pathetic mess." Tedros clearly felt out of place and Jocelyn became the center of the storyline. Jocelyn asked her manager to pay Tedros to get him out of her life. He successfully did and thought he was out.

However, 6 weeks after Tedros was gone from Jocelyn's life, we saw the artist taking the tour. Towards the end of the episode, we saw Tedros going to meet Jocelyn on her tour. Feeling happy seeing Tedros, Jocelyn claimed, "I'm glad you came." Both then confessed to missing each other. Addressing her tour, Jocelyn said, "None of this means as much without you." The change in Jocelyn's heart towards the end shocked the fans, thinking that there might be some twist at the last minute of the show.

However, the same did not happen. Jocelyn changed the whole game when she went public on her tour to introduce the love of her life, Tedros. Standing in front of thousands and thousands of people she said, "The man who pulled me through the darkest hours and into the light, Tedros." She then welcomed Tedros on the stage. Was this Jocelyn's planned move? This left her management team shocked, but the audience cheered for Jocelyn to find the love of her life. The show ended with Jocelyn kissing Tedros on the stage saying, "You're mine, forever." The ending felt as if Jocelyn was in charge of everything. She made Tedros realize that he was nothing until she was there in her life.

'WTF IS THIS ENDING, I knew it was gonna be bad but jesus'

Seeing Jocelyn bounce back to being in a relationship with Tedros made fans slam the storyline of the show. A fan called out HBO's series' ending, "#THEIDOL the ending was terrible , makes sense the entire show was terrible." Another claimed, "I need a twist ending or all this weird torture porn has been for nothing lol." A fan labeled the show "the worst show ever" saying, "That was a waste of 5 weeks what was even the point of the show there was no solid storyline probably one of the worst shows I’ve ever witnessed." "WTF IS THIS ENDING. i knew it was gonna be bad but jesus," wondered another.

' Story was depressing, the characters were repulsive and that ending was lame'
