NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘The View’ star Sunny Hostin recently revealed that her son, Gabriel Hostin, suffered a serious injury after getting into an accident at his school.

The 54-year-old opened up about his son’s plight on Thursday's installment of ‘The View: Behind the Table podcast’ where she described in some detail what happened.

Hostin shared that her son severely injured his shoulder after getting hit by a car while riding his electric skateboard.

The mother of two was concerned and also revealed that the recovery will take anywhere between four to six weeks.

Sunny Hostin opens up about son’s accident on ‘The View’ podcast

Hostin was on the podcast moderated by the show’s executive producer, Brian Teta who mentioned her son’s accident in school. He then asked Hostin to explain about the accident which ‘The View’ star did in some detail.

Hostin revealed that Gabriel is in his junior year at Harvard University and was traveling around Cambridge on his electric skateboard when he collided with a car.

She said of the incident, “He got hit by a car, and he flew over the hood of the car.”

“Because he was not wearing the helmet that I bought for him, the only way to kind of protect his head was to land on his right shoulder, which he dislocated and we believe is somewhat fractured.”

Hostin said that Gabriel badly injured his shoulder after the crash. She also disclosed that the woman driving the car was "shocked" and "crying" when she got out of the car to check on Gabriel.

But Gabriel got up and ensured the lady that he was “going to be okay.” "Apparently, the police report says [Gabriel] enveloped her with his good arm and said, 'Don't worry, I'm going to be okay.’"

Given Gabriel’s injury, it sure looks like the 21-year-old will take some time to recover from this hit.

Sunny Hostin revealed that Gabriel’s recovery will be long

Hostin mentioned that despite her son’s fighting spirit and ability to get on with his life quickly, the road to recovery will be arduous and long.

“He isn't okay. He's in a lot of pain. He'll have, we think, a sling on for four to six weeks.”

But Gabriel didn’t inform his mother about his accident at first.

"He didn't tell me the whole thing because for me as a mom, I'm thinking, is his head okay?… Because that's everything. He'd rather speak to his dad first," Sunny said, referring to her husband Emmanuel.

'The View’ star concluded, “As it turned out, they were deciding whether or not to take him to urgent care or to take him to Mass General.”
