ZURICH, SWITZERLAND: Tina Turner died on Wednesday, May 24, in her home in Zurich. She and her husband, Erwin Bach, spent a whopping $76M about two years earlier on the property. The couple had no choice but to delay buying the property until they received Swiss citizenship as the country's laws forbid non-residents from buying property there.
Swiss media outlets reported at the time that Turner bought the property that tennis legend Roger Federer first set his sights on. However, he settled on another residence in the same neighborhood of Staefa Village, outside Zurich, according to the Daily Mail. The 'Private Dancer' singer bought the property just before deciding to hand over the rights to her entire discography, worth $50M, to publishing giant BMG. Turner's name and image rights were also acquired by BMG as part of the agreement, along with her hits, including 'The Best' and 'Nutbush City Limits'.

What is included in the Swiss property?
Turner and Bach bought the 10-building complex with a waterfront villa and a view of Lake Zurich as a weekend retreat. The 260,000sqft property includes a private pond, stream, swimming pool and boat deck, among other features. Pictures help convey the vast size of the estate, even though many aspects of the facility are still cloaked in secrecy.
'Europe has been very supportive of my music'
Turner, who died due after being ill for long, left the US decades ago for a number of reasons. She said, "I have left America because my success was in another country and my boyfriend was in another country. Basically, Europe has been very supportive of my music," according to the DailyMail.
Turner and Bach ultimately decided to relocate to Switzerland and then purchased the estate in the village of Staefa. For many years, the couple rented a house in the nearby Kuesnacht neighborhood, Chateau Algonquin, before making the official purchase nearly two years ago. Turner is survived by Bach, 67, and her two sons. She had four sons but two died before her.
