The internal competition at Dallas Cowboys training camp between Trevon Diggs and Dak Prescott just became more heated.

Just a few days ago, Dak Prescott dismissed an NSFW insult aimed at him by All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs, who told the veteran QB to "shut your b**** a** up" after he ran out of bounds on a play.

Prescott, to his credit, has done enough damage control for one week.

"That's a guy that I spend a lot of time with, we're always going back and forth," said Prescott, h/t FOX 4. "When you're competing at a high level and you believe your side is better than the other side that's mutual and that's iron sharpening iron."

That's fair from Prescott, to a point. Both he and Diggs are pushing each other to be better. Their on-field relationship has little to with their camaraderie as teammates, or one would think.

Cowboys: Trevon Diggs-Dak Prescott drama gets worse

During Tuesday's practice, Diggs intercepted Prescott on two occasions. In fact, they were back-to-back drives. However, it's Diggs actions after the second interception which are getting headlines.

That, uh, feels a lot like showing Prescott up, to say the least. Now, Dak knows his teammate better than I do, so odds are this is all water under the bridge. Nonetheless, it represents a pattern between Prescott and Diggs, and one has to wonder if it's healthy for the team long term.

Diggs may mean no disrespect — in all likelihood, he's just celebrating his interception in the heat of the moment — but there's a time and a place for such things. For a player who had 14 interceptions over the course of his first two seasons, it's surprising he's unleashed such a media circus over what amounts to practice reps.

Hopefully, he and Prescott have a mutual understanding.
