Today's USMNT news includes Folarin Balogun potentially staying at Arsenal. Yunus Musah could be on his way to AC Milan and Tim Ream wants promotion and relegation in the US.
USMNT news: Folarin Balogun to stay at Arsenal
Folarin Balogun played for Arsenal in their pre-season match against Nurnberg this week. The USMNT forward even nearly got a late winner in a 1-1 draw. Fellow American Auston Trusty who was on loan at Birmingham City last season also featured in the game.
After Balogun's successful spell at Stade de Reims, it was expected that the player would be in demand. However, he is set to stay with the Gunners for now. Mikel Arteta was quoted on Sky Sports saying, "He's just staying here with us at the moment and we will see what happens."
Arsenal travel to the USA next week for a tour which includes matches against the MLS All-Stars, Manchester United and Barcelona. This could be a great opportunity for American fans to see Balogun in action, provided he has not got a transfer before the trip.
Balogun has been linked with many clubs including AC Milan but Christian Pulisic who has just joined the Serie A side has said that he has not yet spoken to him about it.
USMNT news: Yunus Musah to AC Milan
Christian Pulisic has just got his move to AC Milan and he could be joined at the club by his USMNT teammate Yunus Musah. It is expected that Musah will move on from Valencia this summer.
Milan is looking to strengthen their midfield and according to Sky Italia, they are trying to sign Tijjani Reijnders from AZ Alkmaar. However, they have become "annoyed by the attitude" of the Dutch side. This could lead to the Rossoneri rekindling their interest in Musah.
USMNT news: Tim Ream wants promotion
Tim Ream has helped Fulham to three promotions from the Championship to the Premier League. The defender now wants to see promotion and relegation in the US. Teams currently cannot get promoted to or relegated from MLS but the USL is now considering introducing the system in their leagues.
In an interview with Front Office Sports, Ream said "I'm all for promotion and relegation. It puts a lot of pressure on relegation and when you have pressure, you can see who can handle things and who can't. To start it in the USL is a good jumping-off point, with the value of teams being a little bit less."
