‘Emily in Paris’ Season 4 is delayed indefinitely following the 6th week of WGA strike

The Netflix original series 'Emily in Paris' joins the growing list of projects postponed due to the WGA strike. The fourth season of the hit series was supposed to kick off in the middle of this year. As with many other projects, the series' progress now depends entirely on when the Writers Guild of America strike ends.

Sources seem to believe that the show won’t be stuck for longer than two months and that the shooting will most probably commence around September or October. ‘Emily in Paris’ is one amongst many shows that are a product of collaboration between the French and American film industries. Consequently, France is also greatly affected by the WGA strike.

Why is 'Emily in Paris' getting delayed?

The WGA has gone on strike against exploitation in the industry several times in the past, but this time the scale of the strike and its impact are the largest in the history of American media. Among other things, the writers are demanding fair pay and provisions against the use of AI in writing scripts. 'Emily in Paris," like other delayed series and films, involves writers who belong to the union, and therefore the unscripted Season 4 is also affected by the strike.

'Give the writers whatever they want'

'Emily in Paris' is one of the most popular series in recent years, and its third season made it to Netflix's Top 10. Of course the news of its delay disappointed fans. Social media users reacted to the delay announcement with many interesting reactions. A majority of them support the strike and the writers but some were also sad over the show's delay. One fan tweeted, “Of course it’s getting delayed! The writers aren’t being paid fairly! Lily Collins expressed support for them at the start of the strike! This isn’t because of the writers, it’s because of greedy execs.”
