The Tennessee Titans bringing back the Houston Oilers uniforms is straight fire, and Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon knows this to be so very true!
It has been a minute since we have seen the Houston Oilers uniforms on an NFL football field.
Well, that is mostly because they don't exist anymore. Houston relocated to Tennessee after the 1996 season, completely rebranding as the Tennessee Titans in 1999. Although the franchise has always been in The Adams Family, there kind of always has been a disconnect from the Titans and what the Oilers used to be. Houston had so many great players who have largely been forgotten.
So when seeing the Titans' plans to rock the old and iconic Oilers uniforms for a few games this season, you better believe Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Houston superstar quarterback Warren Moon to be all about it. I mean, why would he not? This is a reminder of an incredible era.
To see Derrick Henry rock the same Houston threads that Earl Campbell once donned is so special.
Warren Moon is all about the Tennessee Titans sporting Houston Oilers uniforms
This has always been the thing with the Oilers/Titans franchise from afar as an unbiased observer. They have been around since the infancy of the old AFL. While Houston never got to a Super Bowl at any point in its history, Tennessee reached its first, and only one to date, in that unforgettable 1999 campaign. We all remember fondly Eddie George being a beast and the legend Steve McNair.
But I just think that hall-of-fame players like Moon, Campbell, Robert Brazile, and even former Titans head coach Mike Munchak to some extent, have gotten lost in the shuffle due to the franchise relocating. They can be all about the Titans, but they never played under that moniker or in Nashville. Factor Houston getting an expansion franchise in 2002 and in the same division, too.
Overall, I think bringing back the Oilers Luv Ya Blue jerseys is only a good thing. Yes, it may be incredibly awkward with the Oilers no longer being a thing, but who cares? The jerseys are aesthetically pleasing, unlike the god awful monstrosities the Titans rock on the reg. To be honest, wear these jerseys and swap out the oil derrick with the Titans T crest emblem and there you go!
This move may be controversial, but like Moon, I am all for it because these are so much better.
