Nelson Thomas admitted to consuming 'two-three mixed alcoholic drinks' before the crash

AUSTIN, TEXAS: Nelson Thomas was taken into custody and charged with DUI in September for driving while intoxicated and crashing into a bridge in Texas.

'The Challenge' star faces a misdemeanor charge following the near-fatal car crash on March 6, reports Page Six.

What led to Nelson Thomas' car crash?

Thomas who lost control of his Audi A4 collided with a bridge in Austin, Texas. The impact caused the vehicle to burst into flames while he was trapped inside.

According to court documents obtained by the outlet on Tuesday, October 31, one of the authorities who responded to the crash scene claimed that the reality TV personality had "bloodshot, glassy eyes" after Good Samaritans came to his rescue.

Thomas then admitted to consuming "two-three mixed alcoholic drinks" before the crash.

The police officer who was dispatched to the scene spoke to Thomas again after he was shifted to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas.

As per court documents, the officer "detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath."

Thomas was then placed under arrest at the facility after he failed a field sobriety test.

However, Thomas was "released from custody when it was discovered the treatment for his injuries would take longer than expected," read the documents.

Nelson Thomas is reportedly dealing with a serious medical condition

From the toxicology results of the reality star's medical treatment, authorities obtained a search warrant.

The results showed a blood alcohol content of 0.178 which exceeded the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

On September 28, Thomas was arrested again and his mugshot showed him smiling while posing.

He also posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 16.

In previous court documents, Tabares claimed that Thomas has been "dealing with a serious medical condition in which he does not have full mobility of one of his legs."

On March 14, the 'Are You the One' alum took to Instagram to reveal to his fans that he had been "involved in a car accident” and that he was "grateful" to be alive.

He said that he had "a long road to recovery."

At the time, he also shared pictures of his injuries and expressed gratitude to Minnesota Vikings player KJ Osborn for saving him from his burning vehicle.

A day before his arrest on September 27, Thomas shared that the severity of his wounds had led him to a tough health situation as he was facing a potential ankle amputation.
