LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The countdown for ‘The Flash’ has begun. The early reviews are in, the final trailer is out, and Ezra Miller has been staying out of trouble, what more could the DC fans want? At this point, everyone is thinking about how ‘The Flash’ will introduce all these new and old characters, while trying to maintain the balance, and not look like a Marvel rip-off at the same time. Lucky for ‘The Flash,’ this movie had access to endless DC comics, that can be used for inspiration.
Comics are the very foundation of superhero movies. First came the comics, and then other forms of media followed. Now, ‘The Flash’ is undertaking a huge experiment, and they do have a few existing stories in their arsenal to rely on. ‘The Flash’ has been inspired by a very popular comic book series, ‘Flashpoint’ which has a crossover story arc throughout.
All about ‘Flashpoint’
The more you know about ‘Flashpoint,’ aka the inspiration behind ‘The Flash’ movie, the more you will be inclined to read these comics. ‘Flashpoint’ is DC’s version of ‘Multiverse of Madness’ and introduced endless possibilities in the universe. ‘Flashpoint’ is incredibly close to every DC fan’s heart, because this comic series was the one that introduced different versions of characters, different timelines, and different universes, all of which will be reflected in the upcoming movie. It’s no wonder the expectation has been set so high!
You might wonder how ancient ‘Flashpoint’ is, but in reality, this series began in 2011, making it only 12 years old. This comic series has been written by Geoff Johns and begins with Barry Allen, aka Flash, waking up in a different world than he previously existed in. Now, Barry must unravel the mysteries that present him in the new and twisted universe, where things aren’t the way they are supposed to be. The ‘Flashpoint’ comic series has a variety of superheroes and supervillains from all across the DC Universe, making it one of the biggest and most popular comic series of all time.
‘The Flash’ and ‘Flashpoint’
‘The Flash’ movie is set to draw some heavy inspiration from the ‘Flashpoint’ comics, especially by introducing two versions of Batman (Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck). Although ‘The Flash’ has introduced a few cameos and characters ahead of the big release, it can only mean that they have more characters in their arsenal. ‘Flashpoint’ could be a major game changer for DC at this point, just like the concept of multiverse was for Marvel. However, only time will tell just how much ‘Flashpoint’ will be visible in ‘The Flash.’
‘The Flash’ will witness its theater premiere on June 16, 2023.
