Valorant's upcoming 4.08 patch will see a number of nerfs and changes for popular Agent, Jett.
Riot Games has revealed a number of changes that they plan to roll out to Jett in Valorant's upcoming patch. Yesterday, the Valorant dev team posted a blog that gave players a run down of the imminent nerfs and why they're necessary.
"When we promised more Agent updates than ever and patches have rolled in, many of you have wondered about Jett. Truth is that we have been working on Jettâs update for a while and took extra steps to make sure we were approaching the update in the best way possible," the blog post read.
The main change that players will see is that to her Signature Ability - Tailwind. According the the devs, Jett's Tailwind has proven difficult to strategize against considering her ability essentially gives her an instant escape from nearly any situation. Other Agents didn't possess the "tools" to handle her.
In the upcoming patch, the following changes to Tailwind will be added:
- On pressing the ability key, after a short delay Jett activates a 12 second window where she is empowered to immediately dash on next button press.
- Her Tailwind charge is lost whether she dashes or the window expire, but can still be regained with two kills.
On why the team went with this approach, the devs said, "Often when we nerf an Agent, we get questions on why we couldnât just buff the rest of the roster. Jettâs reactive power crowded out the competition for other Agents and pressured the core tactical promise of the game to a degree that we think it would be dangerous for the roster to try and match."
"Itâs important that Agents as a group remain balanced relative to gun play and maps, in order to keep our tactical cycle healthy. Buffing other Agents against an Agent that is breaking that cycle might avoid some pain in the short term, but jeopardizes the tactical promise that we think is key to VALORANT."
No doubt Jett mains might be feeling a little disheartened by these upcoming nerfs, but it's all worth it to keep the game in a healthy state.
Valorant's 4.08 patch is scheduled for release on April 26.
