CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA: Hollywood has been running on eggshells ever since the Writers Guild of America (WGA) union decided to strike against production houses and studios. Given how no writer in the industry is disposable, many shows and films have met with a grave end because of the lack of writers. This includes talk shows and other TV shows that rely on the writers scripting everything that is spoken out loud.

'Jeopardy!' has become a cause of concern for many viewers as it has also been abandoned by not just the writers but also by their host Mayim Bialik. The producers finally made an announcement regarding the fate of the show after the current season ends its run on Friday, July 28, 2023.

'Jeopardy!' announces summer schedule

In an official social media announcement, 'Jeopardy!' shared the schedule of the show after the current Season 39 comes to an end next week. The caption of their Instagram post said, "The sun is out and #JeopardyRewatch is almost here! Relive some of your favorite episodes from the past season all summer long."

The schedule listed several weeks of reruns, with 'Jeopardy! Masters' in the lead, kicking the summer off on Tuesday, July 25. This particular rerun will be on ABC until September 19. This will be followed by Second Chance weeks from the end of July to August 11 and then three weeks of Tournament of Champions from August 14 to September 1. The rerun will be concluded by Producer Picks, starting September 4 to September 8.

New episodes, old content

The rerun schedule will give 'Jeopardy!' a short hiatus and while nothing is confirmed about the new episodes, it is believed that the show will be back soon. So far, the current season was relying on the already prepared content by the writers before they went on strike.

It could only be confirmed by former champ Ray Lalonde's recent Reddit post in which he revealed that he was approached by the 'Jeopardy!' producers to participate in TOC for this season's champs. He also shared that the show was repurposing clues and other written content from previous seasons and episodes of the game show which confirms the strategy they seem to have taken up to continue without the writers on payroll. Lalonde has refused to return to the show until the producers and studios come to a fair negotiation with the writers.
