Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is on course to return to action for the Gunners later this month after the November international break.

Odegaard hasn't started a game since Arsenal’s Champions League away win over Sevilla last month. He sat out the Premier League thrashing of Sheffield United with what was later reported to be a hip problem, but returned as a late substitute in the Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham.

However, the 24-year-old then missed subsequent games against Newcastle, Sevilla and Burnley. At least the latter two absences are thought to be as a result of an unspecified training injury.

There is no long-term concern, though, with manager Mikel Arteta expectant that Odegaard will be ready to play again before the end of November when Arsenal face Brentford and Lens.

"I'm going to have a meeting with the medical department to understand everybody's situation and I think he is going to be back after the international break," the boss explained after the weekend's win over Burnley. "But I don't know exactly what the decision."

As it stands, Odegaard is part of the Norway squad called up for a friendly against Faroe Islands and the Euro 2024 qualifier against Scotland. It is not clear whether he will remain with them, but neither game is of any consequence. The latter qualifier will not change third place Norway's position in the standings due to a superior head to head record over fourth place Georgia, while Spain and Scotland are already too far ahead and have each qualified automatically.

The only way Norway can get to Euro 2024 is via the playoffs, for which they need to rely on Serbia automatically qualifying from a different group in order to grant them entry.
