‘I can’t think I’m old yet’
Cher has often been vocal about aging and said that she hated getting old during a 2020 interview with The Guardian. “I hate it,” she said at the time. “What, I'm going to say I like it? No, I don’t. Any woman who is honest will say it's not as much fun,” the singer added.
"When I was working on the road we used to work two shows a night and then go out dancing all night long… It’s like we've got to rest because you've got another night,” she further said. “Also, I don't like going out now because everybody’s got a camera and it’s not safe. People rush you, and you don’t know if they're going to kill you or take your picture. Either way, I don’t like it,” Cher added.
In 2022, the ‘Dark Lady’ hitmaker said she does not feel she is old enough to be considered an icon. “In my mind, an icon has always got to be old to be that iconic. I can’t think I'm old yet,” she told Allure magazine. “It's fun. But I don’t take it seriously because… does it mean you’ve just lasted longer than everybody else?” Cher asked.
