IDAHO COUNTY, IDAHO: The grandparents of Joshua "JJ" Vallow recently slammed the convicted "doomsday cult mom" as they gave a preview of what they are planning to say at her upcoming sentencing. Lori Vallow is the mother in question, who is currently facing two counts of first-degree murder for the 2019 deaths of her children, Joshua, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16, whose remains were found on an Idaho property belonging to her second husband, Chad Daybell.
JJ's grandfather Larry Woodcock affirmed that he expects Lori to face life in prison for murdering the two children in an interview with Court TV. Their grandmother Kay Woodcock agrees that Lori's conviction was deserved, as she stated, "I don't think there are enough words in the English language to describe how deplorable she is," adding, "The atrocity is just mind-boggling. It goes against everything a human should do." The elderly couple is expected to deliver a victim impact statement during the sentencing hearing of Lori. "I haven't started writing yet," Kay said about her statement, adding, "When I'm ready, it'll start coming out of me. I just need to list some things, the cruelness of her actions," as per The Sun.
When will Lori Vallow be sentenced?
Lori, who was found guilty in May, is scheduled to be sentenced on July 31. While talking about her statement, JJ’s grandmother provided more information regarding the motives she thinks drove Lori and her second husband, Chad Daybell, who will stand trial in April 2024 for the murder of the two children. "It's just about sex and greed. That's all that it was," Kay said, adding, "The religion was a vehicle to get them where they wanted to be." At the time of the killings, Lori and Chad were the leaders of a doomsday cult and thought they were meant to guide a select group of survivors in the wake of an apocalypse.
Larry, however, is of the opinion that Lori was still in her right mind at the time of the killings. "I absolutely believe that she was sane," he said, reiterating, "She is sane." The accused couple is also suspected of murdering Chad's first wife, Tammy Daybell, who died just two weeks before their unexpected marriage. Even though the cause of Tammy's death was initially listed as natural causes, Chad's hurried remarriage raised doubts, leading detectives to exhume the corpse. Chad was supposed to appear in court on Thursday, July 20, but it was postponed after the prosecution and defense came to an understanding on the latter's request, according to Idaho KSL.
'I hope nobody ever has to go through this'
Larry previously claimed that he wants Chad to face the firing squad if he is convicted of murder in Idaho. When asked if he would support the new execution technique in the event that Chad is found guilty and given the death penalty, the grandfather said, "Absolutely," with a wide smile on his face, in an interview for NewsNation's 'Banfield' program. Following Lori’s conviction, Larry thanked jurors, who declared her guilty on all counts, saying, "I cannot thank them enough. I want to personally thank and I want to personally hug every one of those jurors. What they went through and what they saw is mind-boggling. I hope nobody ever has to go through this. I hope no one has to hear the details of what happened to JJ, Tylee, and Tammy."
