LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The ‘Today’ show is incomplete without Al Roker, who brings wit, humor, and charm to the loved talk show. However, he was absent from the most recent broadcast and one glance at his Instagram will tell you just why. So, while Roker starts some new and important duties at home, Sheinelle Jones forgot about his existence.
While it was an honest mistake, a quick correction was desperately needed on Jones’ part as she made everyone aware of Roker’s whereabouts, away from the ‘Today’ show. Not sure how Roker would feel about this, but a response from him to Jones would truly be a cherry on top of this unintentional mishap.
Where is Al Roker?
As mentioned earlier, one look at Roker's Instagram is enough to know where he is. After his daughter Courtney Roker announced her pregnancy, Roker spoke quite openly about his journey to becoming a grandfather. Roker was overjoyed and has been patiently waiting for his grandchild and now the moment is finally here. Roker posted an adorable photo of his granddaughter Sky Clara Laga. To the photo he added the caption, "And then this little girl came into my life. Welcome to the world, Sky Clara Laga. In love all over again. Thank you Courtney and Wes for such a perfect blessing. You baby is beautiful. Already planning how to spoil her and then hand her back." So that explains Roker's absence from the 'Today' show as he is busy spending time with his family.
‘The gang’s all in’
Jones started by introducing the third hour, “Good morning and welcome to the third hour, today the gang’s all in…well, the gang is kinda not here.” Jones’ mishap and the correction were done within seconds of each other as she burst into a fit of giggles when her co-host Dylan Dreyer mentioned Roker, followed by Craig Melvin saying, “the most important part of the gang.” The three co-hosts continued to laugh before Jones collected herself and explained Roker’s absence, “You know why? Because for the first time, he is enjoying his time as pop-pop.” Jones also shared with the group that she texted Roker after the baby was born and Roker said, “I need to already plan my next chance to see her.” Here’s hoping that Roker will be back behind the desk on the ‘Today’ show in no time.
