GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN: A jury found Taylor Schabusiness guilty of killing Shad Thyrion in February 2022. The woman was found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse and third-degree sexual assault after a trial this week. She reportedly strangled Thyrion to death and then went on to sexually assault him before dismembering him in the basement of his mother’s house at 829 Stony Brook Lane.

During the trial, body camera footage of the responding officers was played in court to show the severity of the crime, PEOPLE reported. The videotape was retrieved from the Green Bay cops that showed the moment officers discovered the 25-year-old man’s head along with several other body parts.

Where were Shad Thyrion's remains found?

In the video, one of the cops exclaimed, “Oh my f*****g God,” after witnessing the scene in Tara Pakanich’s basement. Another officer, Alex Wanish, first saw the victim’s head placed under a towel in a bucket. He then requested more backup, saying, “If we could get more units sooner rather than later that would be appreciated. We’ve got quite a bit of blood down here.”

According to Law & Crime, a criminal complaint against Schabusiness stated that Thyrion's “head had been severed from the neck." It also noted that apart from the head, the bucket had the "male organ" as well as body fluid and two knives. Officers located Thyrion's torso and “several internal organs” inside a storage tote while other body parts were inside shopping bags.

Besides, another body camera clip that recorded the killer's arrest at an apartment complex reportedly showed that cops had found "additional human body parts including legs" in a crock pot box. The complaint added, “Schabusiness responded that the police were going to have fun trying to find all of the organs as she dismembered the body. Schabusiness stated she used knives that she obtained from the kitchen of the residence and that a bread knife worked the best because of the serrated blade.”

‘The manner of death is homicide’

An autopsy carried out on Thyrion disclosed strangulation as the cause of death. Dr Vincent Tranchida from the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office, reportedly told the court, “We have decapitation, we have dismemberment, we have a transaction of the torso, subsequently internally the body has been eviscerated. In other words, we have entered inside the body through various cuts through the abdomen and between the ribs where the victim's organs have been removed, largely one by one.”

Tranchida continued, “In my examination, there was extensive postmortem mutilation of the body and I believe this is postmortem mutilation because there is no hemorrhage associated with these injuries. It is my medical opinion that the cause of death of Shad Thyrion is strangulation and that the manner of death is homicide.”
