Wayne Brady said, 'I had to start owning up to things that maybe I'd either repressed, suppressed, or just didn't wanna deal with'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent interview on Monday, Wayne Brady made his pansexuality public. The 51-year-old 'Let's Make a Deal' star, previously wed to actress Mandie Taketa, cried as he talked about learning his true identity and how his loved ones have shown him such overwhelmingly generous support.

Brady was wed to Diana Lasso from 1993 to 1995, but he discussed how their infancy may have contributed to the breakdown of their marriage in an interview with Closer Weekly in 2019. He said, "My first wife is a great person, but you should not be getting married when you're 20 or 21 because you still don't know yourself. I think the lesson was not to rush into things."

Then he was married to Taketa from 1999 until their divorce was finalized in 2008, and the two have a daughter together, Maile, who is now 20. By playing Tiffany on the CBS serial drama 'The Bold and the Beautiful,' Maile, who is now 19 years old, is continuing the acting legacy of her parents, who are both actors. In April 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Brady claimed that he and Taketa were still close and even quarantining with her boyfriend, Jason.

Brady initially admitted to the outlet that he had considered himself to be possibly bisexual but that he later started to identify as pansexual because, in his opinion, 'pan' means being able to be attracted to anyone who identifies as gay, straight, bi, transgender, or non-binary, as reported by DailyMail.

The comedian told People magazine, "And, I think, at least for me for right now, that is the proper place. I took pan to mean that not only can I be attracted to any of these people or types physically, but I could be attracted to the person that is there."

Wayne revealed that he has done 'all the therapy' he could do

Wayne revealed that he has done "all the therapy" he could do, such as "being treated for love addiction." He said, "It’s a part of my journey. I had to start examining why I was looking for myself and happiness in a slew of people." In 2014, nearly ten years after the tragic death of actor Robin Williams, the celebrity claimed that the late actor "got involved in certain groups, like Glenn Close's group, Bring Change To Mind, being very vocal about mental health."

The TV personality claimed that paying attention to his mental health had a beneficial effect on his personal development. He stated, "Once I opened that door to myself though, I had to start learning about myself, and I had to start owning up to things that maybe I'd either repressed, suppressed, or just didn't wanna deal with," he stated, adding that although he found joy within work, the feeling was absent in other parts of his life.

'I have joy because I love my daughter and I love my family'

He added, "But the pity is then I come home, and I don't have that joy. I have joy because I love my daughter and I love my family. I love being a dad more than chocolate ice cream. But that can't be my only joy. I have to love myself. And that's when I realized that I had a problem because if I can spend everything on stage and on camera but then I come home and there is a love deficit, what is going on? That was my rock bottom."
