AMALFI PORT, ITALY: A leading publishing house, in Bloomsbury USA, President Adrienne Vaughan has died in a tragic speedboat crash. The horrific accident took place on the Amalfi coast when she was on a family vacation with her husband, Mike, and her two children. While the children are being treated for shock, their father reportedly suffered injuries too.
The incident was recorded by some of the guests who were celebrating a wedding in their 130-foot sailing ship carrying 85 people. As the wedding party was in full swing, many didn’t realize what they witnessed as their yacht crashed into a speedboat sending panic waves all over the place.

Adrienne Vaughan, the president of publishing house Bloomsbury USA meticulously planned her dream trip to Italy with her husband Mike White, daughter Leanna, 14, and son Mason, 11. Mike, suffered injuries and was taken to hospital in Castiglione di Ravello, and was operated on his left shoulder late Thursday evening, August 3, reports Il Mattino. He was thrown out of the boat and is said to have limb injuries and a dislocated shoulder, as per the Daily Mail.
Fortunately, the children were unharmed but they needed therapy for shock. They are kept in a tourist facility in Sant’Agata dei due to Goldi, where the family had been staying while vacationing in Europe. A few days ago, the family was enjoying their summer break in Rome and posted several pictures of them in front of the Trevi Fountain and Colosseum.
The skipper of the speedboat was ‘vomiting''
The New York family chartered a motorboat in Nerano and were traveling towards Positano. As per media reports, around 6.30 pm in Fiordo di Furore they crashed into a 130ft Tortuga ship. She had rented the 29-foot speedboat with her family and had planned a trip off the coast, near the Italian city of Naples, as per Agenzia Giornalistica Italia.
According to one witness, Pietro Luzzolino, the skipper of the speedboat was ‘vomiting’ and ‘gave the impression he was drunk.’ Furthermore, as per Italian media outlets Ansa and Italy24, the 30-year-old man also failed his toxicology tests.
Vaughan played a crucial role in several top projects, including titles such as the Harry Potter series. She previously worked for the Disney Publishing group from 2015 to 2018. According to her former colleague, she was a ‘charismatic true leader’. The post shared on LinkedIn added, “She was my coach and my mentor. I loved working with her every day. It was always ready to help others.”
