Alex Stein and Mo Deen were due to fight at a Misfits Boxing event this weekend but the bout has now been canceled

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: A highly anticipated boxing match between YouTube star Alex Stein and TikTok sensation Mo Deen has been called off due to a controversial incident during a press conference. The two were scheduled to face each other in a Misfits Boxing event this weekend and attended a pre-fight press conference on Thursday, July 20 to promote the bout.

During the press conference, tensions escalated when Stein surprised his opponent with a rather unconventional gesture. He stood up, addressed Deen, and offered a gift, saying, "I brought you a little gift because I know you love hotdogs." He then proceeded to launch sausages from a container toward Deen, causing an immediate reaction from the TikTok star.

Alex Stein's controversial pork gesture

Deen, who is a practicing Muslim, was deeply offended by the gesture, as pork is considered haram (forbidden) in Islam. Reacting to the incident, Misfits Boxing acted swiftly and removed Stein from the event lineup. Stein took to social media to share the news of his contract termination.

He posted a letter from Misfits, titled "Termination of Contract," which cited, "Dear Mr Stein, at the press conference today (Thursday) you threw sausages, that were believed to be pork meat, at Mr Mohammad Kubba a/k/a Mo Deen, your scheduled opponent, causing a fight between Mr Kubba and yourself. This fight caused the destruction of the press conference stage. You put the name and reputation of Misfits Boxing, its shareholders and its partners into disrepute."

'I'm not getting the chance to smash this guy's face in!'

Initially, Stein seemed to claim that he threw "hotdogs" made from pork at Deen. However, he later appeared to backtrack on his statement, stating that he threw "turkey dogs" instead. Turkey meat is permissible for Muslims, provided it is slaughtered according to Islamic guidelines. Deen also confirmed that the meat thrown at him was not pork, and he was relieved to hear it was not haram.

Deen expressed his disappointment on Twitter, sharing his feelings of being "heartbroken" over the cancellation of the fight. "I'm feeling heartbroken because my fight is getting cancelled because of someone else's actions and I'm not getting the chance to smash this guy's face in," he said. "They found out it was not pork, it was chicken or whatever. So that's calm. As long as it wasn't (pork) it's not that deep."
