Heather's husband Terry Dubrow said in an interview with People, "Coming out with your sexuality is something that broadly affects a lot of different people. We just want people to realize it should be part of normal conversations."
When asked by Heather how her childhood was and whether her parents talked about sexuality, 'RHOC' star claimed, "I was raised by 1950s parents. They talked about nothing. I had no idea."

Heather's father Conrad S. Kent passed away in 2017. In Season 16 we saw the star mentioning her father passing away. The reason for her father's death is not known.
Heather took to social media to share a photo with her father as she paid tribute to him, saying, "Dad, hope you are somewhere playing your best hand of Bridge and drinking a glass of Chateau Margaux. May your memory be for a blessing Love, Hedy."
Heather posted another photo with her family on October 3, 2017, saying, "We buried my father yesterday and had a celebration of his life. This is my family and I couldn't be more proud."
