Who is Chase Ainsworth?

Police have taken into custody the 34-year-old Chase Ainsworth on Saturday after he was accused of murdering his estranged wife Samantha Ainsworth and abducting their five-year-old son Simon Ainsworth. He was taken into custody and was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of child stealing as per Law&Crime.

As per the press release of the Oklahoma City Police Department, the officers responded to a 911 call about domestic violence on Saturday, July 29. The address was of a home located in the 10000 block of S. Land Avenue, in the area of S May & SW 99th, per KOKH TV. When the police arrived at the crime scene they found the woman inside and the boy missing. She was pronounced dead. As per the authorities, during the time of the crime, the couple’s seven-year-old daughter was also inside.

Captain Michelle Henderson with OKCPD said to the FOX affiliate KOKH-TV on Saturday, "About 2:50 this afternoon, we had a neighbor go over to the house to pick up the seven-year-old child for a play date and discovered that the mother was injured inside and the seven-year-old was there, the five-year-old was gone.” The police issued an Endangered Missing Advisory for the missing five-year-old initially. Ainsworth is known to use drugs and was probably armed with a knife during the crime."

Captain Henderson further added, "Obviously, the seven-year-old was very upset, the neighbors who had gone over there and discovered this were very upset," and added, "Just working through the information that's very traumatic for everybody involved in these kind of situations."

The police soon jumped into action and identified Ainsworth as the probable suspect. As per Law&Crime, the authorities also learned that Chase “fled the scene in a vehicle with one of their young children.” Soon an Amber Alert was issued for Simon and an intensive search began for Ainsworth’s black 2012 Kia Soul.

‘No one was injured’

The police were able to locate Ainsworth and the child about one hour after issuing the alert. The police found Simon barricaded inside a house located in the 1200 block of Chisholm Road. The police said when they entered the house they found the boy to be safe and they took Ainsworth into custody.

Capt. Henderson told Oklahoma City NBC affiliate KFOR-TV, “We were able to see that the child was at the window, so we had a team formed to go and get the kid and no one was injured,”, remarking that it was “the best case scenario ending to a horrible situation.”

Ainsworth is being held without a bond at the Cleveland County Jail.
