Who is Kimbrady Carriker?

Carriker, who did not have any connection to the victims surrendered in an alley after he was chased by the police for several blocks, according to Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw. The gunman's Facebook page showed posts of him supporting Black Lives Matter.

In March, he shared photos of himself with his hair braided, wearing a women's top, a bra, and earrings. His old roommate, Tina Rosette, 49, said she "didn’t even know he had a gun," as she was shocked to learn about the incident. She described the gunman as "really smart, intelligent, creative" and someone who had a love for computers. However, she said Carriker had "an aggressive approach to some things in life."

Tina said she believed Carriker had been in a "dark place" recently. The alleged shooter was previously charged with drug possession, possession of a weapon without a license, and carrying a firearm in public and was arrested in 2003.

Officers stated that they discovered dozens of shell casings strewn across eight blocks from the scene of the shooting on Monday. "You can see there are several scenes out here. We’re canvassing the area to get as much as we can, to identify witnesses, to identify where cameras are located, and to do everything to figure out the why," Outlaw said, reported by New York Post.
