Fans and journalists alike view Mitch Rossell as Garth Brooks' protege in the country music genre

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: Mitch Rossell, originating from East Tennessee's hills, is making a way in the world of country music. His prolific creativity and distinct skills have earned him the unwavering respect of music listeners of all genres. He has built the groundwork for a future career with his strong work ethic and no-shortcut mentality. He will now audition on NBC's 'America's Got Talent' Season 18, Episode 2 on June 6.

The 18th season of 'AGT' premiered on May 30th, featuring judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara. Here's all you need to know about Mitch before you watch him hit the stage in an attempt to realize his ambition of headlining a concert in Las Vegas.

Who is Mitch Rossell?

Mitch has established the groundwork for a future career with his tough work ethic and no-shortcut mentality. He is now on tour with country music icon Garth Brooks. Mitch also composed the soon-to-be number-one song 'Ask Me How I Know', which Garth Brooks sang.

While browsing YouTube for a singer/songwriter for a documentary in 2009, filmmaker Roy Kirkland was intrigued by Mitch's performance and reached out to him from a list of roughly 50 different musicians. He requested that Mitch's music be included, and Mitch agreed. They've been pals ever since. Mitch composed music for the feature film 'Crazed' once more in 2010. Mitch made his acting debut in 2011 in the film 'Battle Of The Cursed: The Two Kings', which got released in 2018. Furthermore, Mitch plays the character of Michelin, a Werewolf Prince. His song, 'Prayin' It Don't Rain', written by Mitch, is also featured in the film. In another film named 'Grandma's Blessings', Mitch played Billy, a mechanic with an ambition of making it great in country music. Mitch played for approximately 1,000 people at the Grandma's Blessings World Premiere Showing in Valdosta, Georgia in February 2013. Roy requested Mitch to stand up before the movie started.

Despite always enjoying listening to music with his family, Mitch prioritized other interests. He was a baseball player before moving to golf, and he won three championships in the same year. Although he enjoyed athletics, he recalls becoming exhausted and constantly wanting to explore other interests. Nonetheless, he never considered pursuing music as a career. This would later alter when Mitch's father died the summer before college, unavoidably spurring him to pursue what his father had always wanted him to do: play guitar.

Who is Mitch Rossell married to?

In May 2018, Mitch married Whitney. They have three little boys together. Whitney has over ten years of experience as a sales, client services, and logistics expert. Marketing, invoicing, scheduling, human resources/training, customer support, bookkeeping, and inventory management are among her additional tasks. She is a self-starter, an exceptional communicator, an amazing organizer, detail-oriented, prompt, and a multitasker who thrives in a fast-paced atmosphere.

Whitney doesn't seem to have any social media presence barring LinkedIn. Mitch however, continues to shower his wife with all the love in the world in his posts every now and then, usually marking their anniversaries and their time together with their kids.

Mitch found his late father again during the writing of 'Son'

Mitch was only ten years old when he awoke in the middle of the night, walked downstairs to the heartbreaking sounds of his mother sobbing, and learned that his father had died. "I just started screaming," Mitch recalled in a PEOPLE interview. "I just lost it. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that there's not a 10-year-old on the planet that's ever lived or will live that had a better relationship with their dad than I had."

Roy Rossell was murdered in the early evening hours of January 21, 1998, by a drunk motorist on a Tellico Plains, Tennessee road. At the time of his death, he was 31 years old.

"It just ripped my heart out," Mitch says solemnly. "It was brutal." And, while the anguish is still as raw as it was on that awful night, Mitch now finds solace in talking about the father he cherished. "He was the greatest," Mitch recalls gently of his late father, who was 21 when the country music singer/songwriter was born. So, in 2016, Mitch thought the time had come to share some of his father's stories. Still, Mitch admits he wasn't sure he was ready to release the song until now.

Granted, the tearjerker of a song might be a game changer for Mitch, who has been climbing the country music ladder with the aid and unflinching backing of none other than Garth. And, while Mitch says he is now certain that releasing 'Son' was the right move, he still wonders if he will ever be able to play the song without a touch of residual agony.
