Nikkie Brass explained that she met Rex Heuermann on a sketchy site years ago and went on a date with him despite having a 'bad feeling' about it

MASSAPEQUA PARK, NEW YORK: A woman has shared her story of a date she went on with the Gilgo Beach murder suspect years before he was charged with and arrested for the murder of three women. Rex Heuermann has been accused of claiming the lives of Megan Waterman, Melissa Barthelemy, and Amber Costello over a decade ago. He is also the prime suspect in the murder of a fourth woman named Maureen Brainard-Barnes.

Currently, the 59-year-old architect is facing three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree murder charges. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges, and as per his lawyer, Michael Brown, Heuermann “did say, as he was in tears, was ‘I didn’t do this.’”

Who is Nikkie Brass?

Brass is a TikTok user, who recently took to the video-sharing platform to talk about her meeting with the alleged serial killer. The 34-year-old woman said, as per Insider, that she connected to him via “one of the sketchy sites, back then,” before asserting, “I just want girls to understand how dangerous those sites can be.”

In her TikTok post on Monday, July 17, she said, “So, I don't really know where to totally begin with this. It was anywhere from 2014 to 2016. And part of me thinks that I should go to the cops and talk to them because he did say information that like wasn't let out to the public.” She then explained, “And honestly, that's what made me lose the date. Because I knew. Because I was watching the news and I was following this case.”

Brass revealed that she met with Heuermann in Port Jefferson town at “a seafood place.” “And I kinda had a bad feeling to begin with, but I don't always trust my gut. I was young and dumb, and so I went,” she noted.

‘Are you a true crime fan?’

Mentioning how the date went, Nikkie explained that it started on a “normal” note asking each other about their work and hobbies. “And then, he brought up, 'Are you into true crime?' He was like, 'Are you a true crime fan?' And I was like, 'Actually, I am. I could probably tell you more about serial killers than their own mothers can. It's bad',” Brass stated.

She said that Heuermann also asked her, “Well, do you know about the Gilgo Beach killer?” To which she answered him, “Everybody on Long Island does. We're all following that case.” Brass also claimed that the accused seemed to be knowing more about the murders than what was out in the public at the time, including information "about a body that wasn't announced on the news yet." She noted that he talked about it as if “he was reliving it in his head. He seemed like, excited. Like it [piqued] his interest. He sat up straighter.”

‘He is taking the fall’

She also pointed out that she does not believe it was only Heuermann who allegedly carried out the crimes. She reportedly said, “It was not just him,” adding, “There were other people involved. He is taking the fall though, I think, for all of them.”

Brass then revealed how her date with Heuermann ended. She said that the suspect offered to take her to his place and he told her insisted that she go with him, saying, “Get in my car with me. Leave your car here.” But when she said no to his proposal, he got furious. “That made me even more like — 'I gotta get out of here.’ Thank god. I trusted my gut. I left after that check came. And I never spoke to that man again,” she concluded in the TikTok video.
