Tammy Garceau has also been accused of taking the two of her dogs' carcasses at a canal where an alligator likely ate them

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: A Florida woman was arrested and charged with animal cruelty after she left her three dogs to die inside a car in the extreme Sunshine State heat. Tammy Garceau, 54, then took two of her dogs' carcasses at a canal where an alligator likely ate them, authorities stated.

As per a probable cause arrest affidavit, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies were called on Saturday, August 12, to a home in Lake Worth after Garceau reported the three dogs she was watching for a friend were stolen.

Who is Tammy Garceau?

Garceau is facing three charges each of animal cruelty, unlawful abandonment/containment of an animal and unlawful disposal of a dead animal. She was taken to jail, where she was released Sunday on a $9,000 bond, records show according to Law and Crime.

However, her ludicrous story almost fell immediately apart. The affidavit said that a neighbor across the street noticed the three dogs in a car for an extended period on August 8. It added that the neighbor saw Garceau take the dogs out of the car and hose them down to try to cool them off. The deputies collected the clip of the incident which the neighbor recorded.

Garceau admitted she left the dogs inside the car deliberately when confronted with this information as she was against bringing them into her house, the affidavit stated. Deputies noted that the temperature outside was as high as 92 degrees that day and it would have been much hotter inside a car irrespective of the fact if the air conditioning was on or off.

According to the reports of kidsandcars.com, which keeps a record of deaths of children left in hot cars, the temperature inside a vehicle can soar more than 125 degrees within minutes.

Garceau took deputies to two separate locations

Garceau took deputies to two separate locations where she left her dead dogs after her arrest. The first was left in a wooded area where deputies found one dog in the bushes, and a second location in a canal. The affidavit mentioned that the deputy could see a spot on the shore where the dogs were, however, “it is likely that an alligator at them".
