HOUSTON, TEXAS: A woman accused of theft allegedly used her teenage daughter to keep herself safe from the police. The suspect has been identified as Tenescha Henry, 35, and is now said to be behind bars in a Harris County jail after being slapped with charges of evading arrest, child endangerment, and fraud, with a bond amount set to $20,000.
The incident took place last Thursday, July 20, when Webster police had to pursue Henry for around 25 miles in Bellaire as she tried to avoid arrest. Precinct 8 Deputy A Peters stated, "At a point, (Henry) did end up exiting and going the wrong way on the service road of I-45 and then ultimately went the wrong way on the local road of Airport Boulevard," as per ABC 13.
Who is Tenescha Henry?
Henry is a 35-year-old suspect who now faces multiple felony charges. Peters went on to share that the officials eventually detained her after she stopped in the 14400 block of Cullen Boulevard after her car went out of gas. The Precinct 8 Deputy noted, "She essentially got out of the vehicle, walked around to the front of the car, opened the passenger side door. She grabbed an unknown female out of the passenger side and proceeded to grab her, take her out of the car where she, unfortunately, put her in what we would call a chokehold and put her in front of law enforcement." Surprisingly, Peters also revealed that the police had no idea that the female was Henry’s 14-year-old daughter, saying, "At that point, I 100% believed that we had a hostage situation," adding, "I distinctly remember her at times saying, 'Shoot. Shoot me, shoot us.' Things of that nature."
Further revelations about the incident
After some struggle, Henry was tasered and detained with the help of law enforcement officers. Explaining the situation, Peters said, "It is very high intensity. It can be a very dangerous situation, and to put your own family member, not to mention your daughter, right in front of that potential danger is just kind of crazy to me." Besides, a statement from the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable's Office read, "Deputies conducted an inventory search of the vehicle and located 22 pieces of identifying information. The items included Texas driver’s licenses, Texas security licenses, Social Security cards, Lone Star EBT cards, credit/debit cards, and health insurance cards. Further investigation revealed the identifying items were taken without consent and Henry had attempted to use the credit/debit cards."
