Troy Weeks said Rex Huermann had a 'monotone' voice and a 'blank stare' and that he always felt uneasy around him

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NEW YORK: Troy Weeks, 23, a college student had a creepy experience with Rex Huermann, the suspected serial killer behind the Gilgo Beach murders. He said that he worked as Huermann’s lawn mower for three summers and that he always felt uneasy around him.

He said Huermann had a "monotone" voice and a "blank stare" and that he never let him inside his house, where he may have killed one of his victims, according to police. Troy would never go inside the house as he had been warned against venturing inside the suspect's Massapequa Park home. Out of curiosity, he took a peek inside from a window one day and regretted what he saw.

'It was really creepy'

"I was really surprised by the conditions of his house... it looked atrocious in there," he told Daily Mail. Tory, who lives a few blocks away from the house, described what he saw. " I saw these tiny head things - they were like these shrunken heads. And me and my friends always called it the shrunken head house because they were the weirdest coconut head things," he said, adding "It was really creepy."

During their smaller but occasional talks, he would always reply, "Same s**t, different day," when asked how things are. "He seemed like he didn’t have any emotions or a personality," Troy told the outlet.

'Huermann's one rule: Dont come inside the house'

"He always told me if you are thirsty or need something to drink, knock on the back door never come into the house that is the one rule,' Troy said of not being allowed to enter the house. He had been warned that he will lose work if he tried to come in. [Huermann] said, "If you ever try and open my doors then you cannot work for me."’ Troy and the suspect got into a fight when Troy accused him of cheating him out of $5. He said, "I asked him to give me back the $5 or I would never do this again. I brought my own equipment to cut his grass and it’s not fair that he shortchanged me by $5. I’m just a college kid trying to make ends meet." Troy said, adding that he was not surprised by Huermann’s arrest, but that he was still scared by it. "It is scary, I am going to have nightmares," he said.

A neighbor heard him talking to himself about ‘the girls’ while he was drunk

Another neighbor, Jimmy Mack, also revealed to the outlet how he had a frightening encounter with Huermann in March. He said he heard him talking to himself about "the girls" while he was drunk and walking past his house. '"I'm sitting on my porch and he doesn't see me but I hear him saying 'oh here we are again… I told them ...I told those girls once already ... now you guys are going to understand." He said he confronted him and asked him what he was doing. He said Huermann then threatened to slash his tires and said he would come back in 15 minutes. Mack said he chased him away and followed him to his house to see where he lived. He said he felt "something ain’t right" about him and that he warned his family and friends about him. "Who knows if he would have came back with a gun," Mack said. "I lost five nights of sleep. I was waiting for this guy to come back." He added, "my gut was just telling me something was wrong …it was more than a normal confrontation."
