Ureka R Black was found guilty of one count of second-degree murder for the death of 10-month-old Joshua Black

CADDO, LOUISIANA: Ureka R Black has been sentenced to life in prison for throwing her two children off a bridge. In the horrific incident, her infant son died instantly while her five-year-old son suffered from multiple injuries.

The 34-year-old flung her two young children from a bridge to ‘meet with God.’

District Judge Donald E Hathaway Jr announced the sentence

District Judge Donald E Hathaway Jr, in his judgment, ordered Ureka R Black to serve a sentence of life in a state correctional facility without the possibility of parole for the 2021, in which young Joshua Black died, said authorities.

The surviving victim, Elijah told investigators about the incident. On September 24, it was his fifth birthday and on that morning, his mother drove him and his baby brother to the bridge.

Elijah reportedly said his mother told him he had ‘germs’ and that the water below the bridge was ‘good water.’

Ureka then went on and ‘rolled’ him off the top of the bridge. Jurors were shown Elijah's interview where he at one time told the forensic investigator that he did not want to ‘go with God ever again.’

“Elijah was found floating on his back and was pulled from the water a short time later. He was responsive but severely injured. The surviving boy was rushed to LSU Oschner Health Shreveport with “life-threatening injuries,” police said.

As per officers, Elijah’s statement offered authorities evidence that was essential in identifying his mother as the person who threw him and his younger brother from the bridge, reports Law and Crime.

Prosecutors filed a petition for discovery on September 5 that revealed more evidence about the circumstances leading up to Black allegedly throwing her children from the bridge.

Black was found guilty of one count of second-degree murder for the death of 10-month-old Joshua Black. She was also found guilty of attempted second-degree murder of Elijah Black.

“My heart is just so broken with this event that has occurred today,” Substitute Chief for the Shreveport Police Department Wayne Smith told Shreveport KSLA-TV earlier.

The convict was driving her grey Dodge Caravan with a Texas license plate and was taken into custody at the Texas state line by the Waskom Police Department, during her initial arrest.

Shreveport reported officials put out a BOLO (be on the lookout) for Black’s vehicle and a Waskom officer thought he spotted it at a rest stop. He turned around, pulled her over, and took her into custody.
