LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ventura County was left in complete shock when a woman named Sherri Dally from Oxnard was kidnapped while shopping and was later found dead. The case was complicated and the jury, along with the investigation officials, took an extended period of time to come to a verdict.

Later it was suspected that her husband was involved in her murder and he was later convicted of the crime as well. Along with him, the woman he was having an affair with was identified as the one who had kidnapped Sherri. NBC 'Dateline' will be telecasting a rerun of the investigation for solving Sherri's murder case this Friday.

How was Sherri Dally killed?

Sherri was kidnapped in 1996 from the parking lot of a Target. It was then reported that it was a mysterious woman sporting a blonde wig, dressed as a security guard, who had hand-cuffed and pushed Sherri into the back of a rented car. The car was a teal-colored Nissan Altima. A month later, her body was discovered but it was brutally disfigured because of the animals in the area who had fed on it. Moreover, the car was discovered with the backseat soaked in blood.

Upon autopsy, it was later found that she had died much earlier than when she was attacked by the animals. Her bones, especially on the head, had several signs of a blunt object attacking the area forcefully along with several stab wounds all over her body.

Who killed Sherri Dally?

The rented Nissan which had been rented was tracked back to Diana Haun, who rented it a day before Sherri was last seen getting on it. Haun was a coworker of Sherri's husband, Michael Dally. They were having an affair and plotted to kill Sherri together. Although no physical evidence led the investigators or the jury to the crime, it was Michael's strange behavior and involvement with Diana that finally caused him to be convicted of the murder.

Ventura County Star reported that Michael barely made any efforts to look for his wife after she went missing. He was quick to give out her belongings as well and defended Diana in every way possible. But Diana had strong physical evidence against her while Michael had a clear involvement in plotting his own wife's murder. The jury reached the verdict thinking that he avoided divorce and wanted to get the insurance money from Sherri's death.

NBC's 'Dateline' episode will be telecasted at 8 pm on Friday, July 7, 2023.
