David Rainey's body was discovered after he was reported missing by his wife, Cindy Rainey, while they were on a vacation in Suwannee, Florida

SUWANEE, FLORIDA: David Rainey, 52, was discovered dead in a canal behind a home he and his family had rented in Suwannee, on the southern end of Florida’s Big Bend region, on July 25, 2021.

As investigators found multiple stab wounds on the body, his death was ruled as a homicide.

David was reported missing by his wife on the next morning after he had walked out of his home the previous night following an argument. He left behind his glasses, wallet, and cell phone.

Authorities stated that his body was discovered after an "extensive search."

Three years later, police has now arrested his wife, Cindy Rainey, and sons, Bailey Rainey and Jack Rainey, on charges of tampering with evidence, reported Fox News.

On October 25, Dixie County investigators went to Bunnell and arrested Cindy and Bailey with the help of the Flagler County Sheriff’s office. They then arrested Jack Rainey from Orlando with the help of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials have not revealed the suspect's name in the killing of David Rainey

A press release by the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office stated, "Three Arrests Made in Connection with the Homicide of David Rainey... On October 25, 2023, three of David Rainey’s family members were arrested in connection to his murder... Cindy Rainey, Bailey Rainey, and Jack Rainey were all charged with Tampering with Evidence."

The statement added, "Sheriff Darby Butler would like to thank The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and the Office of the State Attorney, Third Circuit, for assisting the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office with these arrests."

David Rainey and Cindy Rainey were married for 21 years

According to David Rainey's obituary, he was born in Redlands, California, and worked as a welder on steam and gas turbines after graduating from welding school in New York.

At the time of his death, he lived at Palm Coast with his wife of 21 years, Cindy Rainey, and worked as a turbine blader for Ethos Energy.

"David traveled all over the United States and the world for his work. He was respected by his peers for his excellent skills, work ethic and dedication to getting the job done right," read the obituary.
