OAK FOREST, CHICAGO: A neighborhood in Oak Forest was struck with shock and grief when a single mother Lauren Pikor was found fatally stabbed in the street in front of her home on Friday night, August 4. The 30-year-old who was stabbed by her boyfriend is being remembered as "a loving mother."
On Saturday, August 5, Chad Oster was arrested by police in Oak Forest after a "lengthy standoff". The standoff came to an end after police utilized flash bangs to breach the residence. The 36-year-old man was reportedly armed, according to People.
Who was Lauren Pikor?
In a statement issued by Oak Forest Police Chief Jason Reid following the incident, Pikor who is survived by her young daughter Eva was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend. Oster currently faces first-degree murder charges in connection to Pikor's death and his bond hearing was scheduled for Monday. However, it remains unclear whether he has entered a plea or retained a lawyer

According to the statement on the GoFundMe set up by Pikor's family, "Lauren Pikor was a loving mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, niece, and friend," and added, "She leaves behind her pride and joy, her sweet daughter, and a heartbroken family."
The fundraiser further described Pikor as a "dedicated single mother who worked hard and strove to be an amazing role model for her daughter. She excelled in her career and her faith guided her throughout her life."
"She was loved more than words by so many. Her legacy lives on in her daughter and the many lives she touched," her family continued. At the time of her tragic death, the single mother reportedly had a restraining order against the alleged killer.
Talking to Fox 32 Chicago, a crisis responder named Andrew Holmes said, "She’s in the prime of her lifetime, and her life was cut short," and added, "The child’s life, the whole family’s life, because this mother has been taken, and as a child, growing up this child is going to be looking for his or her mother, that’s their best friend, this changes everything as far as growing up." According to an obituary by Colonial Chapel, Pikor's funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 9.
