Josephine Wright, 93, claimed that developers are allegedly harassing and forcing her to sell her property

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA: After Tyler Perry, popular American rapper Snoop Dogg has come to the aid of a 93-year-old woman who is battling to keep her home and land in South Carolina. 'The Next Episode' rapper has donated $10,000 to Josephine Wright’s GoFundMe campaign, his representatives have told CNN.

“I did it from the heart,” Snoop Dogg told the news station in a statement. This news comes after it was reported that Tyler Perry, 53, helped the nonagenarian who is presently involved in a bitter legal battle over her home.

Why did Snoop Dogg help Joesphine Wright?

When asked the reason for helping the woman, Snoop Dogg said, “She reminds me of my mother and grandmother.” According to Wright, developers are allegedly harassing and forcing her to sell her property, local news outlet WSAV reports. South Carolina is a grandmother to 40, a great-grandmother to 50, and a great-great-grandmother to 16 children. She told the outlet that her Hilton Head home is “where I want to be at this age” and she is going to fight anyone who gets in the way of that. “I’ve pretty much been a fighter all my life,” Wright told the publication.

Since the aftermath of the Civil War, Wright’s home has been in her family. Her husband’s relatives were former slaves who were freed by Union soldiers. WSAV reported that an investment group developing the land behind Wright’s house filed a lawsuit where they alleged that parts of the home were on their property.

What did Wright say about the developers?

"I guess they figured I would become so unnerved with the harassment that I would say 'take it,'" she said of the developers. “But they don’t know me. I am here to fight for what I have.” Being impressed by Wright's resilience after he saw WSAV’s coverage of her struggle, the 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman' actor shared it on Instagram.

“I’ve pretty much been a fighter all my life” he wrote, quoting Wright in his caption. “Ms Wright, please tell where to show up and what you need to help you fight.” Perry has an impressive past of using his fortune to help senior citizens save their homes. The Tyler Perry’s House of Payne star received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2021 Oscars. Perry donated $750,000 to help prevent the displacement of low-income seniors in Atlanta in February.

Other stars have also pledged their support

“Corporate bullying at its finest .. this super hero status!”, Meek Mill said in the comments, while Fantasia Barrino wrote, “I will stand with you as well Tyler.”
