LAS VEGAS, NEVADA: Former Raiders player Chandler Jones was taken into custody on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, for the second time in one month.
Citing the Metropolitan Police Department booking logs, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Jones was arrested on a charge of violating a domestic violence temporary protection order.
Further information on the arrest has not been disclosed by authorities.
Chandler Jones allegedly sent video of burning items he took from a woman's home
On Tuesday afternoon at 1.15 pm, authorities were called to an address in Las Vegas, Nevada.
On September 28, Jones was first arrested on two charges of violating a domestic violence protective order.
The 33-year-old reportedly took items from a woman's home. He then sent the video of himself allegedly in the nude burning the items which included dog toys, a pool net, and a recycling bin.
The domestic violence temporary protection order was initially issued after a woman, who claimed to be Jones' ex-girlfriend, said that she was a victim of domestic abuse.
According to The Athletic, she alleged that the ex-Raiders defensive end had shoved her into a railing while "rambling incoherently" while attempting to enter her room.
Chandler Jones made controversial allegations against Raiders coach Josh McDaniels
Before his arrest, Jones cried on a live stream, claiming that former Patriots offensive coordinator and Raiders coach Josh McDaniels had a role in the suicide of former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez in 2017 while he was in prison.
"Y’all don’t know what Josh McDaniels really did to Aaron Hernandez. … Y’all thought Aaron Hernandez killed himself in jail," Jones alleged during the livestream.
Jones also alleged that he was "injected" with an unknown substance after the Las Vegas Fire Department took him to a mental health facility against his will, reported the New York Post.
Jones' tenure with the Raiders was cut over his arrest and erratic behavior on social media. The team also terminated his contract over a year into a three-year, $51 million deal.
In a statement released by the Raiders, the team stated that they were "hopeful that Chandler Jones receives the care that he needs. He, his family, and all those involved are in our thoughts."
His 2022 performance was marred by underwhelming performance as he has registered only 4.5 sacks in 15 games.
Jones's controversies and legal troubles piling up have become a setback in his NFL career.
