ROCKWALL, TEXAS: 'Hannah Montana' star Mitchel Musso has spoken up following the dismissal of his public intoxication and theft charges on Wednesday, November 15, as per Toofab.

The controversy surrounding the former child star reportedly began in August when Musso, who played Oliver Oken on the hit Disney series, was arrested in Rockwall, Texas.

Mitchel Musso was apparently arrested after he refused to pay for a bag of chips

Mitchel Musso was supposedly accused of entering a hotel while appearing intoxicated, selecting a bag of chips, and beginning to eat them. When asked to pay for the chips, he allegedly became verbally abusive and left without rendering payment.

Police were dispatched to the scene, and upon arrival, they noted signs of intoxication and took Musso into custody. He spent one night in jail and was released on a $1,000 bond, as per CNN.

A routine records check revealed that he had several outstanding traffic warrants owing to a failure to display a license and an expired registration. He is also said to have violated a "promise to appear" order, as per PEOPLE Magazine.

While talking to the publication in August, Musso called the incident "a big misunderstanding" and denied being intoxicated.

How did Mitchel Musso react to the dismissal of his cases?

Reacting to the news on his Instagram Stories, Mitchel Musso referred to the incident and his subsequent arrest as "the Ruffles controversy."

The 32-year-old wrote, "Thank you guys for standing with me during this time, want to thank you all for listening and being there. [Sorry] couldn't talk about it. Had to wait til the truth came out."

He further clarified the situation in another statement, saying, "To put the Ruffles controversy to rest, let me state unequivocally that my relationship with those delicious potato crisps is strictly lawful. Both cases were dismissed with the prosecutors reasoning behind 'in the interest of justice'."

Musso expressed his gratitude towards his family and his "dedicated" team for their "unwavering support."

"I'm grateful to my family and dedicated team- manager Dru Davis, agent Julie Fulop, and attorney Gregg Gallian for their unwavering support. I extend my best wishes to all involved," wrote the actor.

He added, "Currently I'm focused on my upcoming album, and I'm putting my attention on upcoming film and television projects. I'm also very excited about a new venture with my solar company, United National Power, forging a partnership with the historic Black frontier town of Tatums, Oklahoma, to establish a cutting-edge Solar Farm."
