LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tropical Storm Hilary took a tumultuous turn as it pummeled Southern California, leaving behind a trail of flooded streets and drenched neighborhoods on Sunday evening, August 20.

The chaos prompted authorities to issue flash flood warnings, urging residents of low-lying areas to seek higher ground. Amid the devastation, a woman and her granddaughter found themselves inadvertently thrust into the heart of the storm's fury.

Woman and granddaughter's ordeal in Hurricane Hilary

Mary Ann Beth and her granddaughter found themselves navigating treacherous waters, directed by their GPS system into a harbor. Adding a surreal layer to their dire situation, Lady Gaga's melodic anthem, 'Rain On Me', played in the background within their sinking vehicle.

Miraculously, one of the passengers inside the vehicle managed to escape through the car window, emerging from the encroaching waters. The unfolding drama swiftly attracted the attention of a group of bystanders.

Two good Samaritans bravely plunged into the cold water to save Mary Ann Beth, who was still trapped within the submerged vehicle. They managed to rescue the grandmother just in the nick of time, pulling her to safety.

When the first responders eventually arrived at the scene, the vehicle had already disappeared beneath the water's surface. However, in a subsequent update on Twitter, Mary Ann Beth shared that her rental van had been successfully recovered from the water.

What stood out during the ordeal was the music that played in the background. In a light-hearted moment following the incident, a police officer noted the coincidental musical choice.

"It was a funny coincidence that I was playing Rain On Me by Lady GaGa while I was sinking with my granddaughter..." Mary Ann Beth shared later. She also quipped, "I'm more of a Jazz Ga Ga type of gal."
