Rapper Offset teases new music with Jamie Lee Curtis skit
Rapper Offset has teased new music with a hilarious spoof skit featuring the actress Jamie Lee Curtis. Offset made the announcement of new music with a viral clip posted across his social media pages, that featured Curtis playing the role of a news presenter and himself parodying a musical legend. It appears the rapper took inspiration from the funk performer James Brown and his infamous 1988 CNN interview after he was released on bail for alleged assault on his wife. Curtis, as the news reporter, could be heard asking Offset: “Your fans are saying that there's a lot of drama between you and your beautiful wife, Cardi B.” Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Offset simply laughed in response, and Curtis’ reporter character replied: “You’re not going to answer my f**king question, are you?” Curtis continued, saying, “She seems upset, Offset”. Offset ended the video, stating, “Let’s talk about some music” before the words “July 28th” appeared on the screen. The video parodied the Brown interview in which reporter Sonya Friedman attempted to ask the singer about his relationship and the charges, but Brown evaded the question by laughing, singing and veering the conversation to his tour. On Twitter, the clip has been viewed 2.5 million times and people have commented on the creativity of the announcement. “The James Brown reference got me cackling!!!” one person said. Someone else wrote: “I wanna know what the call to Jamie was like for this one.” “Got queen Jamie Lee Curtis to help re-enact one of the greatest interviews of all time. This is art,” wrote another Twitter user. Someone else said: “Amazing promo.” The hilarious promo comes after Cardi B publicly warned her husband Offset amid cheating accusations. Noel Gallagher sparks feud with Adele and her 's*** songs'
Noel Gallagher has sparked a feud with Adele after calling her "offensive" and slamming her songs as "s**t". The former Oasis star is not shy of speaking his mind. He's famously called Robbie Williams "the fat dancer from Take That," described Scotland as a "third world country" and compared Lewis Capaldi to "Chewbacca". But now, Adele – who is seemingly minding her own business in Las Vegas – is in Noel's firing line. When Matt Morgan asked whether he was a fan of Adele's music, the 56-year-old told the podcast host: "They’re f***ing s**t. It’s f***ing awful. It’s f***ing Cilla Black. I find it and that whole thing offensive." Despite his strong words, he did however suggest he'd be open to writing songs for her in the future. "If I fall out of love with touring, I could see myself just sitting at home writing songs and sending them to my publishers. I might in the future. I’ll be saying, 'Get Adele to sing that. Don’t call until she’s done the guide vocal'," Noel joked, adding: "I want Lewis Capaldi to murder this song, I want him to sit on it from a great height. Make me rich’." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Sam Smith wasn't safe either, who Noel called the "biggest idiot around." This isn't the first time Noel has fired shots at the singer, after misgendering Smith during an appearance on Dutch radio Kink. "Music has become quite fractured and chart music is dominated by pop. Pop music is alright if the pop stars are cool. Sadly the stars of today are f***ing idiots," he said. When asked whether he was referring to anyone in particular, the former Oasis star responded: "Sam Smith." "Why?" the host asked before Gallagher quipped: "Look at him." Taylor Swift becomes first woman to have four albums chart in the top 10
Taylor Swift has made history once again by becoming the first woman to have four albums in the top 10 of the Billboard charts. The 33-year-old recently released Speak Now (Taylor's Version),, which debuted at No. 1 and is the biggest release this year so far, selling 716,000 album-equivalent units (physical sales with digital sales and streaming figures combined). At the moment, there are four albums by the 'Anti-Hero' singer that are currently in the top ten - Speak Now (Taylor's Version) at No.1, Midnights at No.5, Lover at No.7 and Folklore at No.10. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter The last time there were four albums by the same artist in the top ten of the Billboard 200 was all the way back in 1966 when Herb Alpert achieved this feat. Reaching the top spot also means Swift has broken another record to become the female artist with the most No 1 albums in history as she now has 12 to her name, previously she was tied with Barbra Streisand at 11. Swift's recent release is part of the singer's plan to re-record her back catalogue of music, and so far she has released Fearless (Taylor's Version) in April 2021, selling 291,000 units, followed by Red (Taylor's Version) which dropped in November in the same year, selling 605,000 units. This makes Speak Now (Taylor's Version) her most commercially successful re-recording to date at 716,000 units. Fans took to Twitter to share their delight at Swift's recent achievements. These aren't the only records Swift has broken this year, as the singer became the first female artist in history to surpass 93 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Currently, Swift is on the US leg of her The Eras Tour, which could be the highest-grossing tour of all time, earning a record-setting $1 billion in sales, as per CNBC. All Barbie-inspired looks Margot Robbie has worn
With the release of the Barbie movie fast approaching on July 21, the marketing campaign has been unavoidable. From the pink billboards to the endless amount of brand collaborations - everyone and everything is channelling Barbie this summer. This includes Barbie herself, Margot Robbie who is taken fashion inspiration from the different looks the Mattel doll has worn over the years to wear at different premieres. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Of course, fans are loving the way the Australian actor is paying homage to her character. One person said: "I literally can't even with the perfect Barbie looks that Margot Robbie has been sporting on her Barbie press tour." "It’s so unbelievably perfect. She [Robbie] gave everything I wanted and more. Need this energy from the other characters," another person wrote. Someone else added: "Margot Robbie is slaying the #barbie promo tour so hard it's almost painful." "Margot Robbie turned Barbie into the fashion event of the year and I am here ittttt," a fourth person commented. Here is a rundown of all Robbie's Barbie-inspired looks during the Barbie movie press tour: Cinemacon, Las Vegas (April 25 2023) Robbie hinted at her Barbie wardrobe at Cinemacon back in April where she sported a pink gingham Prada bralette and skirt set based on a dress her character wears in the film. Since then, Mattel has created this outfit for Barbie dolls, so you could say the film was the inspiration in this case. Los Angeles photo call (June 25 2023) Barbie loves all things pink, including a pink dress with white polka dots. This fun Valentino number accessorised with a bright yellow bag took inspiration from the 2015 Pink & Fabulous Barbie. Sydney, Australia photo call (June 29 2023) Throwing it back to Barbie's first-ever outfit with the black-and-white swimsuit, Robbie took inspo and wore a black-and-white Hervé Léger dress with white sunglasses to match during a photo call on Bondi Beach. This swimsuit can also be seen on Robbie in the Barbie movie trailer too. Barbie Celebration party, Sydney (June 30 2023) Sparkling in a dazzling metallic pink 1994 Versace dress, Robbie's outfit channeled a similar outfit to the Happy Birthday Barbie - and while it might not be Robbie's birthday, she had plenty to celebrate at the Barbie party in Sydney. Seoul 'Barbie' premiere, South Korea (July 2 2023) Dress up with a white brimmed hat, hot pink blazer, pencil skirt and high heels - not forgetting the rhinestone phone - Robbie's outfit was a throwback to the 1985 Day-to-Night Barbie, with this being the day look. Robbie later changed into the night look which was a pink sparkly leotard and a part-Versace pink dress with the tutu skirt. Media news conference, Seoul (July 3 2023) It was pink and sparkles galore for Robbie at a media conference in Seoul when she turned up for the event in a bejewelled suit skirt set, with a cute hair bow and heart bag to match in tribute to the 1964 Sparkling Pink Barbie. Mexico City 'Barbie' premiere, Mexico (July 6 2023) Robbie wore a long-sleeve pink minidress at the Barbie Mexico premiere, but the accessories made the look complete with a silver belt and some huge dangly hearts and stars silver earrings for Earring Magic Barbie. Mexico photo call (July 7 2023) A bright patterned dress with fluorescent pink earring and crimped hair screams the 80s which means sense since the look is inspired by the Totally Hair 25th Anniversary Barbie. 'Barbie' world premiere in Los Angeles (July 9 2023) Ditching the pink (although not entirely with the delicately held handkerchief), Robbie stepped out in a black custom Schiaparelli haute couture dress to the LA premiere of Barbie. This look referenced Barbie’s Solo in the Spotlight dress from 1960, in which both the doll and Robbie wore black gloves, tulle fringe, and pink handkerchief. 'Barbie' European premiere, London (July 12 2023) Robbie stunned in a vintage Vivienne Westwood draped corset gown, which featured a white tulle stole, and was accessorised with matte ivory opera gloves and a layered pearl necklace. A look that was originally created for the Mattel doll back in the 1960s for Enchanted Evening Barbie. Reese Witherspoon says she didn't have control over NSFW scene aged 19
Reese Witherspoon candidly opened up about her sex scene in the film Fear, sharing that it still went ahead despite her saying no. The actress told Harper’s Bazaar that she requested a stunt double for the 1996 psychological thriller featuring Mark Wahlberg, adding that it "wasn’t a particularly great experience." "It wasn’t explicit in the script that that’s what was going to happen, so that was something that I think the director thought of on his own and then asked me on set if I would do it, and I said no," Witherspoon, who was 19 at the time, told the publication. "I didn’t have control over it," she added. "I’m certainly not traumatised or anything by it, but it was formative." Sign up for our free Indy100 weekly newsletter Witherspoon went on to say it was the inspiration behind launching her film production company, Hello Sunshine. The aim is to open up perspective and empower women "by giving them authorship, inspiring agency, and creating a platform to help them shape culture." "It made me understand where my place was in the pecking order of filmmaking," she explained. "I think it’s another one of those stories that made me want to be an agent for change and someone who maybe can be in a better leadership position to tell stories from a female perspective instead of from the male gaze." Earlier this year, the star and ex-husband Jim Toth announced they were parting ways after 12 years together. The pair released a joint statement. Witherspoon felt like this was the right move as it felt "much more authentic" to share it in her own words and "not let somebody else control what’s happening." Have your say in our news democracy.
