LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The action star Tom Cruise on Wednesday, June 7 seemingly poked fun at his running in Mission: Impossible franchise movies on Global running day. The Tweet with a mix of fun and promotion came as part one of Mission: Impossible-Dead Reckoning is scheduled for release on July 12.

Cruise uploaded a snippet from his next upcoming film in GIF wherein he plays Ethan Hunt and shows him running across the screen. "Running in #MissionImpossible movies since 1996. #GlobalRunningDay," Cruise wrote in his Twitter post. The actor also shared the clip and caption on his Instagram Story.

Cruise also changed the text on his social media pages to "Running in movies since 1981," a reference to the year he first appeared onscreen in the flick 'Endless Love' and 'Taps'. This year's seventh 'Mission: Impossible' film marks the first installment in the series since 2018. Hunt and his squad are entrusted with locating "a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands," according to an official synopsis of the film. The synopsis additionally promises "a deadly race around the globe" throughout the movie, as reported by People.

"Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most," the synopsis further suggests. Written and Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who has the privilege of directing two 'Mission: Impossible' films besides writing 'Top Gun: Maverick'. McQuarrie, 54, is also making the upcoming sequel Dead Reckoning Part Two, expected to release in 2024.

Cruise is joined by a large ensemble cast, including Ving Rhames, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Charles Parnell, Frederick Schmidt, Cary Elwes, Mark Gatiss, Indira Varma, and Rob Delaney.
